You cannot access Content Management Server 2002 when you use a user from a universal group that belongs to a domain and the domain differs from the domain of the universal group


Consider the following scenario. You use a user from a universal group membership that belongs to a domain, and the domain differs from the domain of the universal group. You try to access Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002. In this scenario, you cannot access MCMS 2002.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because MCMS 2002 does not support the use of user in a universal group membership that belongs to a different domain than the domain of the universal group.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, create a new local group. Then, add the universal group members to the newly created local group. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2.Expand Local Users and Groups, right-click Groups, and then click New Group.
3.Type a new group name in the Group name box.
4.Click Add to add the necessary users to the new group.
5.When you are finished adding the users, click Create, and then click Close.

You can now give your new local group the permission level that is needed to access MCMS 2002.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
