Provides a resolution for an issue where the videos do not play as expected when you start Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight.


When you start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight, videos do not play as expected. For example, you can hear the audio, but the video does not play as expected. Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight may also stop responding (hang).

The videos play as expected if you start Microsoft Windows Media Player before you play the video.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you did not install Windows Media Player when you installed Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the correct version of Windows Media Player from Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight Disc 1. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Insert the Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight Disc 1 into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
2.Click Start, and then click Search.
3.Click All files and folders.
4.In the All or part of the file name box, type the Windows Media Player installation file name for your version of Microsoft Windows:
If you have a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, type Mpsetupxp.exe to install Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.
If you have a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based or Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, type Mpsetup.exe to install Windows Media Player 9.
If you have a Microsoft Windows 98-based computer, type Mp71.exe to install Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.
5.In the Look in box, click the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive where you inserted the Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight Disc 1, and then click Search.
6.In the list of found files, double-click the file that you located in step 4, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the installation.
