Description of the Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package: March 14, 2007


This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 issues that are fixed in the Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated March 14, 2007.

The issues that the hotfix package fixes.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
Attached images or attached OLE objects are deleted from e-mail messages
Consider the following scenario. Outlook 2003 is configured not to use Microsoft Office Word 2003 as the e-mail editor. Instead, e-mail messages are edited by using the default RTF e-mail editor that in part of Outlook 2003. You create a new message. Additionally, you paste a screenshot or a different OLE object into the message. Then, you click Permission on the E-mail toolbar to turn on Information Rights Management (IRM) for the message. Next, you save the message, click Permission on the E-mail toolbar to turn off IRM, and then save the e-mail message again.

In this scenario, the attached image or the attached OLE object is deleted from the message.
Attachments change order in Outlook 2003 messages
Consider the following scenario. Outlook 2003 is configured not to use Word 2003 as the e-mail editor. Instead, e-mail messages are edited by using the default RTF e-mail editor that in part of Outlook 2003. You create a new e-mail message. Additionally, you attach several files in a specific order to the e-mail message. Then, you click Permission on the E-mail toolbar to turn on IRM for the message. Next, you send the message to a recipient. The recipient opens the message and then clicks Permission on the E-mail toolbar to turn off IRM. Then, the recipient saves the message.

In this scenario, the attachments in the message change their order of appearance. For example, a different attachment appears first in the message.
