When you connect to an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 by using Microsoft Windows Authentication mode, the login process takes a long time. Then, the following problems occur:
| Error 17883 is logged in the SQL Server error log. |
| The instance of SQL Server 2000 temporarily stops responding. |
This problem occurs because of a delay in the authentication process. The delay may be caused by a network connection issue or by some other issue.
