The effects of U.S. daylight saving time changes on the databases of some SQL Server editions

Changes to the starting dates and ending dates of U.S. daylight saving time (DST) start in 2007. However, these changes do not occur on the correct day on the following mobile-device platforms:
Microsoft Windows CE 5.0
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PC
Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
Microsoft Windows CE 4.2
These changes affect the databases of the following SQL Server editions:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition

MORE INFORMATION

The effects of the DST changes on SQL Server databases are as follows:
The time reported in the client agent log and in the database engine log will be based on the incorrect system time.

Note Database engine logs are supported only in SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and in SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition. Client agent logs are supported in all editions.
When you use the GetDate function to insert data of the datetime data type, incorrect system-time data will be inserted.
To help avoid issues that are related to the DST changes, we recommend that you update any affected mobile-device platforms by installing the following software updates:

APPLIES TO
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition
