When you try to stream music files from the Zune software to an Xbox 360 console, you cannot access the music files. A red circle with a line through the circle may appear next to the music files when you view the music files by using the Xbox 360 console.

CAUSE

Typically, this behavior occurs if you have not downloaded the latest updates from Xbox Live, or if you have not downloaded the Optional iPod Support update from the Xbox Live Marketplace. This behavior also occurs when the music files are incompatible with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.

THINGS TO TRY

1.Make sure that the Xbox 360 console is connected to Xbox Live.
2.Download any updates that you are prompted to install.
Note Support for devices such as the Zune portable music and video player are installed by these updates.

Note The Xbox 360 console does not support all music formats. You cannot play copyright-protected music from certain services such as Apple iTunes.
3.To play unprotected advanced audio coding (AAC) music, download the free Optional iPod Support update from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Note You must be connected to Xbox Live to access the Xbox Live Marketplace and you must have an Xbox Live Silver or Gold Membership to download the update.
To download the Optional iPod Support for the Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
a. In the Xbox Live section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Xbox Live Marketplace, and then select Game Downloads.
b. Select All Games, and then select Alphabetical List of Games.
c. From the Xbox Live Marketplace, select Optional iPod Support.
d. From the Xbox Guide, select Optional iPod Support, and then select Confirm Download.
e. After the download is completed, select Done, and then press the BACK button or the B button three times to return to the Xbox Dashboard.
You can now listen to unprotected AAC audio files individually or in playlists with MP3 and WMA audio files. To do this, use the following devices:
A computer that is running the Zune software on your home network
A Zune device
An Xbox 360 Hard Drive together with an Xbox 360 console
An iPod or other portable audio player
A USB flash-memory device
