In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, side-by-side deployment of BizTalk assemblies does not work as expected. This issue occurs when convoys are used in orchestrations.
For example, two orchestration instances may be created in memory when a message that follows a correlation is received. One orchestration instance is created on the existing correlated convoy that uses an older version of the assembly. A second orchestration instance is created that uses the newer version of the assembly.
When convoys are not used, running message instances complete on the older version of the assembly, and new message instances are initialized on the new version of the assembly.
