Description of the supported method to upgrade from MCMS 2002 to SharePoint Server 2007

This article describes the supported method to upgrade from Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

MORE INFORMATION

During the SharePoint Server 2007 Beta testing process, the following steps were required to upgrade from MCMS 2002 to SharePoint Server 2007:
1.Upgrade from MCMS 2002 to SharePoint Server 2007 Beta 2.
2.Upgrade from SharePoint Server 2007 Beta 2 to SharePoint Server 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh (TR).
3.Upgrade from SharePoint Server 2007 Beta 2 TR to the release version of SharePoint Server 2007.
After the SharePoint Server 2007 Beta testing process was complete, the following problems occurred when MCMS 2002 was upgraded to SharePoint Server 2007:
The link fix-up code did not run on HTML fields that contain links to additional content that resides in the SharePoint site. Therefore, when the content was moved, the links in HTML fields were not updated correctly, and the links may have been broken.
Reusable content fragments could not be inserted into HTML fields. When you saved page content, the reusable content could have been missing.
Unsafe script and code may have been inserted into HTML fields. This might have occurred because the content in the field was not passed through the OSAFE HTML processor. In this case, JavaScript could have been inserted into the HTML field. This could be a security risk.
These issues are fixed in the release version of SharePoint Server 2007. Therefore, the only supported upgrade method is to upgrade directly to the release version of SharePoint Server 2007. No other upgrade method is supported.
